According to a recent study by Forbes, PEOPLE are getting out of their sexual comfort zone…THEY  are getting THIRSTIER on social media during this Coronavirus LockDown

Due to wide-spreading Coronavirus (COVID-19), most people around the world are now on lockdown, working from home, cooking, watching their favorite TV shows and exercising through different moods everyday. Maybe even a perfect time to try out a new hobby, do more reading or enhance your cooking skills.

Instead, a new study reveals that sexting across social media is at peak amid the current order to stay home due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

Terms like “nudes,” “dick pics” and “coronavirus” were tweeted about more often, increasing 384% from March to April, according to a report by Forbes.

In addition, the beloved peach emoji was used 46% more and experts predict a rise in its use, along with the eggplant emoji, as the month progresses.

“The social repression of self-isolation and quarantine can lead to more sexually aggressive behavior on social media as a sort of virtual pressure valve”, Dr. Helen Fisher, a research fellow at the Kinsey Institute and Match.com’s scientific advisor told Forbes.

According to Fisher, the rise in internet sexual expression is in play because of these factors, sexual arousal due to stress,  guarded sexual self-expression knowing no one will be meeting in public, as well as the time men and women now have to express their sexual desires.

“It’s in some ways safer to express one’s sexuality on the Internet. We can’t meet in person. This gives people a sense of freedom. They can’t go any further than simply expressing their feelings. They don’t have to ‘follow through’ by actually meeting and having sex. Men and women now have time to express their sexuality, as so many of their other daily habits, patterns and pressures are now on hold, ” she said.

However, she predicts that things will cool down once everything is back to normal

“The expression of sexual desires on the Internet will no longer be innocuous, once we can again meet in person.”

“We will get back to the time constraints of working and times with family and friends.”
