African Women Intercultural Dialogue
The AFRICAN WOMEN INTERCULTURAL DIALOGUE is an event designed towards creating an enabling platform in which Iconic Africans drawn from different facets of the African society will come together and discuss the link of negative cultural practice to under-development of the modern African girl-child and woman and aim to overturn them via legislation process in our respective Nations in the continent.
The dialogue taking place at the Accra International Conference on 25th of April 2017 would Centre on policy, social and educational issues contingent to the sustainable development of the girl child in contemporary realities and will also affirm Africa’s endangered positive cultural norms from cultural clashes and propagate cross cultural intelligence and positive cultural exchange in today’s ever-evolving world.
The African Women Intercultural Dialogue is an all-inclusive event endorsed by UNESCO Ghana, its Mission Director Mr. Tirso Dos Santos will lead the speakers at the Dialogue other speakers includes Dr.(Amb.) Erieka Bennett, Representative of the Diaspora Africans at the African Union, Prof. Phillip Ogbonna Founder of Soren Kierkegaard Academic Society Africa and Queen Diambi Kabatusuila Muata Monarch of Bakwa Indu in ancient Luba Kingdom of Democratic Republic of Congo.
Discussants at the dialogue includes Oheneyere Gifti Anti, COP Rose Bio Atinga (Ghana), Hajia Gumsu Bayero Fadil (Cameroun), Isaac Kigozi (Uganda), Yaa Asantewa, founder Afrikology Institute (South Africa), Mrs. Fatima Maada Bio, wife of former president of Sierra Leone, the Nigerian contingent to the dialogue includes Nneoma Nkechi Rochas Okorocha, Mrs. Olufunso Amosun, Mrs. Nkechi Ikpeazu who are First Ladies of Imo, Ogun and Abia States respectively, more dignitaries across African continent that are concerned about women development are expected at the event, Ambassadors of Diplomatic missions in Ghana and directors of international development agencies were also invited to enhance diversity of perspectives and contents to be represented.
The Speaker of Nigeria House of Rep Hon. Yakubu Dogara and his Ghanaian counterpart have been invited to oversee and advice on how the dossier from the dialogue can be presented to law making arms of African governments to achieve the ultimate aim of the dialogue.
The Dialogue theme, “Negative Cultural practices and Underdevelopment of the African Girl Child and Woman”, would center on Child Marriage and Female Genital Mutilation.
The Ghanaian First Lady Mrs. Rebecca Akuffo Addo is expected to Chair the Occasion and the dialogue is proudly supported by CityLights West Africa and Footprints2 Africa.
