TC AWARDS: Novel award scheme to honor Yorubas in Ghana to hold June 11

The Tribute Concert and Awards (TC Awards), a novel scheme created to celebrate outstanding achievements and excellence by Yorubas in Ghana will take place this Saturday, June 11 at the Fantasy Dome in La, Accra.

Themed “Yoruba Community Ghana: From Migrants to Citizens” the scheme will honor and acknowledge 45 individuals, and 15 institutions who have contributed immensely and meaningfully to the growth of their communities – home and abroad. These individuals are persons that have projected the good deeds of the ethnic group.

The honorees will be personalities and institutions in academia, humanitarian, leadership, governance, religion, sports, entertainment, culture, media, transportation, trade and commerce.

Since its launch in October 2021, the scheme, which is also the first of its kind has received support from the majority of Yorubas in Ghana and the diaspora.

Former Ghana Minister and Member of Parliament for Odododiodio Constituency, Nii Lante Vanderpuye commended the efforts of the organizers ahead of this maiden edition during a courtesy visit.

Several Yoruba groups in Ghana and in the diaspora have endorsed the scheme.

The Chairman planning committee of the TC Awards, Dr. Olaide Oluwamayowa Jose Alaaye, a Yoruba Community Leader in the Dome-Kwabenya constituency opines that the TC Awards present the opportunity to appreciate past and present Yoruba heroes as well as appreciate the good works of iconic tribesmen.

He further noted that it will be an avenue to encourage the youths to aspire to build legacies that lives beyond them.

“I expect to see all Yorubas at the event on Saturday. I also want the world to take note of the level of commitment by our past and present heroes in Ghana while we appreciate our fathers for the good work they have done in the past. Ghana has produced a lot of notable Yorubas who have contributed to the country.

“This event is also an avenue to encourage the youths to have a great legacy and to further deepen the relationship between the Yorubas from Nigeria and Ghana.”

The biennial event was created by Olansile Abayomi.
