The 2020 South African Music Awards (SAMAs) to be hosted in August…virtually

The 26th edition of the South African Music Awards [SAMAs] will for the first time go virtual because of the on-going COVID-19 issues.

The awards ceremony themed #ForThaKultcha will happen for five nights 3-7 August 2020 and will be broadcast on Mzansi Magic at 9:30pm.

The Best Kwaito Album category is back, to replace the Best Kwaito/Gqom/Amapiano.

This category will encompass Gqom and Amapiano as sub-genres under the kwaito umbrella body.

The Music Video of the Year Award has become a public voted category like the Record of the Year Award, with nominees to revealed on Thursday, 9 July 2020.
