The famous animated series The Boondocks is making a comeback as a reboot, Variety confirms. Sony will be reimagining the animation series joined by the creator of the series, Aaron McGruder. McGruder will make his return as director.
The reimagined version of The Boondocks will dive into the Freemans battle against Uncle Ruckus, who’s now an “evil local government tyrant who rules fictional Woodcrest County, Maryland with an iron fist.”
The Boondocks premiered in 1996 as a webcomic and features main characters Huey (named after Huey P. Newton) and Riley, from inner-city Chicago who are relocated to live with their granddad (played by John Witherspoon) in a sedate suburb.
