To allow those under the age of 18 to ride alone….Teens can now have their own UBER account

Uber is introducing new features to make available its ride-hailing service for individuals of all ages. And this comes with the introduction of Uber for teens, which will allow those under the age of 18 to ride alone.

This feature permits young individuals between the ages of 13 and 17 to independently request and take rides while being in the car alone. The app also enables parents and guardians to remotely monitor their teens’ trips. Furthermore, parents can track their kids’ rides in real-time and even communicate with the drivers if necessary.

To ensure the safety and well-being of these young riders, Uber specifies that only experienced and highly-rated drivers will be taking trips requested by teenagers. However, drivers have the option to decline requests from teenagers if they prefer not to pick them up.

Initially, the teen accounts feature will be launched in a select number of cities, including Atlanta, Columbus, Minneapolis, with plans to extend the availability of teen accounts to its Uber Eats platform, allowing young individuals to independently order food delivery.

It is worth noting that teenagers have previously found ways to circumvent Uber’s age restrictions by booking rides through their parents, older siblings, or friends. With the introduction of dedicated teen accounts, Uber aims to provide a safer and more convenient experience for young riders while also giving parents peace of mind.
