Make-Up Ghana, organizers of the prestigious Ghana Makeup Awards, has introduced four new categories to 4th edition of the award ceremony. Dubbed, ‘COVID-19 Response categories’, these are targeted at empowering stakeholders in the beauty industry to help fight the Covid-19 pandemic.
The categories include Digital Education, Digital Advocacy, Digital Commerce & Marketing and Best Innovative Response Strategy. Individuals who spent valuable time on digital platforms to educate, and create awareness on Covid-19 safety protocols as well as those who come up with most effective product to help fight COVID 19 will be honoured in the categories.
This was disclosed in a press statement to call for nominations for the annual award ceremony held to celebrate excellence in the beauty and make-up industry. Call for nomination will close September 30, 2020.
“We encourage beauty professionals to nominate themselves, as we are rewarding individuals or brands who believe their work has stood out and that they have made significant impact in the beauty industry and also contributions towards the fight against the coronavirus,” CEO of Make-up Ghana, Rebecca Donkor indicated.
She also added that due to the current global pandemic, this year’s event will not be as elaborate as previous events.
“Our highly anticipated categories such as the makeup artiste of the year, hairstylist of the year, among others, will not be vied for this year. And our live nominee tasks will also not take place this year. This year’s categories will shed light on the beauty community’s contribution towards the fight against the Covid-19, and we will also use this opportunity to give out selected industry awards to deserving individuals,” it disclosed.
But stakeholders are expected to pick industry awards in categories such as ‘Industry Choice Award (Most Influential)’, ‘Beauty Entrepreneur of the Year’, ‘Beauty Brand of the Year’, and ‘Discovery Artiste of the Year’.
The Ghana Make-Up Awards is an industry award for the makeup and beauty industry aimed at fostering excellence, by rewarding and celebrating pioneers, leading professionals and upcoming talent within the industry, as well as businesses and brands who are contributing to economic growth.
Organizers are yet to announce when the event will come on this year.
