They were over 200 ladies who had the courage to want to succeed Ruth Quarshie, the 2017 winner of the prestigious Miss Universe Ghana crown, under the auspices of Maltz Promotions, led by Menaye Donkor. Then through rigorous screenings, tasks and so much more, they were left with 10. And out of the many, few were chosen and out of the few, only ONE winner has emerged – all hail the new queen of the 2018 Miss Universe Ghana, AKPENE DIATA HOGGAR.
Though she is from the Volta region of Ghana but in this contest, the model, blogger, and an entrepreneur had to represent the Brong-Ahafo region of Ghana to beat nine others, namely, Tekor Akuetteh (Western Region), Michaelina Dankwa (Ashanti Region), Naa Odoi (Upper East Region), Daisy Obeng (Eastern Region), Gifty Quansah (Greater Accra Region), Pascalina Yeboah (Central Region), Anita Sampana (Northern Region), Silvia Commodore (Upper West Region), and Afiba Dadzie (Volta Region).
Aside her crown, the luxurious car, one-year contract with the Lab Modeling Agency in Milan, Italy; one-year contract as the Face of ‘So aesthetic’, one-year supply of GTP fabrics, makeup products for one year, ¢10,000 worth of Shoes from Shoe Zone and one- year hair services and spa treatments by First Choice Beauty Salon, she would be in Thailand in December 2018, to raise the flag of Ghana high, when she battles it out with other contestants from other parts of the world at the Miss Universe international pageant. Though last year, Ruth went far, the nation prays that Akpene would go all the way to bring home the ultimate gong.
Let us tell that the first-runner up was Vanessa Tekor Akuetteh representing the Western Region, and the second runner up was Silvia Commodore representing the Upper West Region.
Music on the night was dished by the amazing Adina and King Promise.
