As a measure to crack down on those who share passwords…You could soon be paying more for sharing your Netflix password

Netflix is going in hard on measures to crack down on those who share passwords with friends and family.

At the moment anyone is able to borrow a password from someone with an account and will then be able to stream movies and TV shows.

This has negatively affected the streamer’s ability to score grow its subscriber’s currently on 221 million.

The streamer announced that it’s testing measures in which main account holders will pay an added fee for allowing users to stream outside of a given household.

“So for the last year we’ve been working on ways to enable members who share outside their household to do so easily and securely, while also paying a bit more. And over the next few weeks, we’ll launch and test two new features for our members in Chile, Costa Rica, and Peru,” the company stated.

Users will be able to add sub-accounts for up to two people they don’t live with, each with their own profile, personalized recommendations, login and password and this will be charged around roughly $2 and $3 per month, depending on the country.

Another option will be for users to transfer profiles to a new account.
