BURNA BOY, REMA nominated for 2020 MTV EMA

The nominations for the 2020 MTV EMA (MTV Europe Music Award) are finally out and this time we have African superstars on the spotlight.

Burna Boy (Nigeria), Rema (Nigeria), Master KG, Kabza De Small & DJ Maphorisa, Sheebah (Uganda) and Gaz Mawete (Congo) will be battling it out for the Best African Act category.

It’s without a doubt that Burna Boy and Rema are picked for their successes in their individual paths of having entertained the world with their uniqueness.

Leading the way with seven nods in total is Lady Gaga, who’s in the running for Best Artist as well as Best Song, Best Collaboration, and Best Video for ‘Rain On Me’, her joint single with Ariana Grande.

This year’s MTV EMAs will take place on November 8, with organizers promising “a night of jaw-dropping performances from the hottest artists while celebrating the power of music in 2020!”

Voting officially opened on October 6.

A statement reads: “It’s no secret that 2020 has been an absolutely WILD year so far. From virtual livestream performances to the birth of a plethora of amazing quarantine content, the world sure has rolled with the punches and embraced these unpredictable changes! Obviously, the MTV EMA will be no different!”
