Cash Wale: King Sunny Adé inspires my songs

Nigerian afropop musician, Lawal Ismaila, known by his stage name Cash Wale has revealed his source of inspiration is legendary musician King Sunny Adé.

The Cash Gang Entertainment artiste said he has for a while followed the Nigerian icon, King Sunny Adé ’s style of music and lyrics which influenced most of his music.

Meaningful songs and always refreshing when played years later, he stated, are some of the features he tapped from King Sunny’s songs.

“I do music for people to love and continue to play years after. People like Uncle Sunny Adé  songs motivate me and I am following the same trend,” he said.

The ‘Handkerchief’ lyricist confessed that despite his fame, none of his songs was written by him but few people also signed onto his parent record label Cash Gang  Entertainment.

On his relationship with King Sunny Adé , the Lagos State-born singer, added, “I have met him once in Asaba at a corporate event. He’s such a humble man and father to all. I love him and his lifestyle is an example for the youths of Nigeria. ”

Cash Wale is expected to drop a brand new single ‘Give Me Way’ this November which features a surprise top Nigerian dancehall artist.

Credited songs by the Lagos-born artiste include Won Kere, Handkerchief, Lover Lover, Kolor Kolor, etc.
