MTV announced the winners of the highly-anticipated 2023 ‘VMAs,’ and Nigerian superstar Rema secured his first VMA in the Best Afrobeats Song category for the ‘Calm Down‘ Remix, featuring Selena Gomez.

Amidst a formidable lineup of nominees including Ayra Starr, Burna Boy, Davido, Fireboy DML & Asake, Libianca, and Wizkid, Rema emerged as the undisputed victor, further cementing his commanding presence in the global music landscape.

Rema was in the running for the same award, alongside Ayra Starr, Burna Boy, Davido, Fireboy DML & Asake, Libianca, and Wizkid.

Taylor Swift dominated the awards ceremony, taking home an impressive nine wins. These included top honors like Video of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Pop, Best Direction, Best Cinematography, and Best Visual Effects for “Anti-Hero.” She also nabbed Album of the Year for “Midnights,” along with Artist of the Year and Show of the Summer.
