Abena shed tears when her name was mentioned as the winner
ABENA AKUABA APPIAH, a 22 years damsel with a height of 178 cm has emerged the winner of the 2016 Queen Beauty Universe at an event which took place the Holiday Polynesia Hotel in Malaga, Spain, beating other 20 contestants from different countries.
Italy, Slovakia, Venezuela and Spain emerged 1st runner up, 2nd, 3rd and fourth respectively behind the Ghanaian – who becomes the first Ghanaian to win an international pageant.
“Making Ghana proud has always being my first choice as to why I went into this competition. Although I have won the Miss Universe Ghana title in 2014, I still believe that there are more glories to be won for my motherland.” The ebony brilliance told us via the telephone.
The event, which had the participation of representatives from around the world, concluded with a spectacular light and sound, enlivened with various musical performances between the different countries of the candidates for the title before the large audience that packed the facilities Hotel Holiday Polynesia.
The evening started with the performance of the contestants had to demonstrate their singing and dancing skills. After that, the candidates staged several passes in costumes typical fantasy or each country; one of the most anticipated and spectacular was the parade in a swimsuit, which preceded the final pass with ball gowns. For 10 days the candidates of this event, which was the subject of interest from media of countries on several continents, enjoyed the City of Benalmádena and its charms with different sightseeing and leisure.
During the event, Encarnacion Cortes, Mayor of Tourism of the City of Benalmádena, took the opportunity to congratulate the organizers of the event and urged the organizers to uphold the value of the pageantry in high esteem.
For many who done know the winner – Abena – as a model, she has rocked different international platforms and gait in top-notched apparels for different designers such as Andres Aquino, Sushma Patel, Catalan, and the late Kofi Ansah, amongst others.
The beauty-to-behold queen has participated in both different locally and internationally acclaimed competitions such as: ‘Top Model Ghana 2013’, ‘Top Model of the World 2013’, ‘Miss Universe Ghana 2014’, ‘Miss Universe World, 2014’, amongst others. As part of her detailed credentials, she became a brand ambassador for Garner Hair products in the United States of America.
The 2012 X-Factor finalist has a Hollywood wink under her belt after playing three characters in an American movie set hit the market soon. Aside her TV commercials for Surfline LTG, Lydia Contraception Pills; the Afri-Americans (an American TV series) cast is set to announce another major blockbuster role she has just penned her signature to play in.
The singing-somebody has released 5 singles to her credit and she is currently working on her maiden album.
