The evening of Wednesday, 24th of November, would remain as one of the best evenings inside 2021, as it was about the culinary tradition; from the food and wine which reflects the rich and diverse background of Italy. Although the country is known for passion, creativity, strive for excellence and beauty as it shows in its approach to life and why they are so much appreciated abroad – Sapori d’Italia was the evening’s heartbeat.
“We welcome you to the 6th Edition of the Italian Cuisine Week in the World, a flagship initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in International Corporation of Italy with the involvement of the entire network of embassies and consulates around the world. It aims at promoting the best of Italian Agri-Food chain from tradition to innovation in the name of sustainability. We also wish to celebrate the great Italian wines and the Mediterranean Diets which are extremely healthy and it is included in the list of UNESCO’s intangible cultural heritage. This evening we hope to delight you with the best of Italian wines as well as a delicious buffet treated by the chef, Pietro Bulgari. Enjoy the evening.” The Italian Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. The evening had dignitaries from all works of life, from the host – H.E. Daniela d’Orlandi (the Italian Ambassador to Ghana), H.E. Claudia Turbay Quintero (the Ambassador of Columbia to Ghana), Alessandro Gerbino (the Trade Commissioner), Mark Okraku-Mantey (Deputy Minister of Tourism), Claudia Lumor (the chief and publisher of Glitz Africa Magazine), Bola Ray (who was the MC), et al.
For attendees, we were treated to the menu which comprised of Caprese Gourmet, Bibanesi with Sesame and Ghanaian Whole Salt, Crystal Bread, Fufu Bread, Crispy Ravioli, Mini Sea Burger, Summer Rolls, Assorted Cheese Platters, Assorted Pizzas, Bovina Tartar, Caprese by the Glass, Sandwiches with Cuttlefish Ink, Risotto, Spring Cake, Presidential Cake, Vanilla Cannoncini and there was a little cooking demonstration fresh fruit ice cream with liquid and Italian Bignolata served on their “Tree of Prosperity”, just to give a nice emotions.
The wine partners were: Africa Wine Club led by Kodjo Adovor who is an Italian Wine Ambassador, Say Cheers and Imexco Ghana Limited. Some of the wines on display were: Primitivo Manduria Riserva, Tre Di Tre, Brunello Di Montalcino Carpineto 2016, Chianti Classico Riserva, Fantinel Sant’helena Refosco, Fantinel Sun Goddess Sauvignon Blanc, Monte Tondo Amarone Della Valpolicella, Canti Asti, Monte Tondo Soave Superiore, etc.
We must say that the evening did not only bring to the attendees delicacies for the palate, but also something for their spirits with the sole aim of leading everyone to experience the Italian way of life – “II Vivere all’Italiana”.
