Eugene Osafo-Nkansah is a familiar name in show business in Ghana. He started as an event co-coordinator for an event company he registered with five other friends “One Soul Entertainment” which in 2002 organized the biggest second cycle rap, dance and basketball competition ever organized at the Aviation Social Center dubbed “Up in the Smoke Fiesta”, Miss Kwahu among other events. He has closely followed the music, movie, radio, television, tourism, fashion and arts and craft industries since the year 2000.
An entertainment journalist by choice, Eugene started with his own entertainment weekly newspaper called “Ghana Billboard” which he was the editor in 2004. He later became the assistant editor in chief for another entertainment weekly newspaper in 2005 called Loud and Kicking (L&K). Over the years he has matured into a well-known arts and entertainment writer in Ghana.
Along the line, he was a columnist in a bi-weekly entertainment newspaper “Prime People” where he use to criticize, analyze and report on issues bordering the entertainment industry and events as well. He wrote articles for Musicbiz magazine (A credible music magazine) and Celebrity magazine and sometimes writes for the largest entertainment newspaper Graphic Showbiz. He became a writer for a popular entertainment newspaper “Weekly Fylla” and also used to report for Ghanamusic.com.
Mr. Osafo-Nkansah has sparked a lot of controversies and raised countless critical entertainment issues over the years. He went into radio as a producer and Mr. Osafo-Nkansah has been a part of almost every entertainment discussion program on radio in Accra.
He was the producer for an entertainment chart show “Solid Gold Countdown” aired on Radio Gold every Saturday presented by Mutala Muntare (Prime Eye) 3pm -5pm for 3 years. He later became the producer for “205” a similar entertainment discursion program on a Christian radio station, Channel ‘R’ 92.7 FM presented by D.J Abio. He was on Abeiku Santana’s program “Efie Kwan So” he had a fifteen minutes’ segment titled “Celebrity Watch” which took a critical look at things celebrities do that the public do not hear about on radio. It aired on Fridays between 5:40pm and 5:55pm on Adom 106.3 FM. Eugene also produced Mikky Osei Berko (Master Richard) at some point during his time at Happy FM as the host of the station’s drive time program.
His dedication and commitment to the showbiz industry has virtually made him a part of everything that goes on as far as entertainment is concerned. He was a member of categorization committee for Ghana Music Awards for 3 years and was solely in charge of research for Ghana Music Awards Festival from 2009 to 2013.
Eugene has also managed artistes like Nana King, Ex-Doe, A-Plus, Afia Schwarzenegger and several others. He has worked as publicist for rapper Kwaw Kesse (Abodam), Becca, Samini, Moesha Boduong, VIP and Reggie Rockstone, Nana Ama McBrown among others.
He is currently the Producer for the biggest entertainment discussion program on radio presently in Ghana “Entertainment Review” aired on Peace 104.3 FM every Thursday and Saturday presented by Kwasi Aboagye and in charge of entertainment at Peace FM. He is also the Entertainment Editor for Peace FM’s official website www.peacefmonline.com. His experience and involvement in the entertainment industry puts him above his peers. He is current working at Peace FM as an Entertainment reporter and Producer. Eugene is a founding member of Arts & Tourism Writers Association of Ghana (ATWAG) and he served first General Secretary of the association.
After a decade in the mainstream media in Ghana, Eugene successfully evolved and has currently created his own brand and platform as a Blogger for Nkonkonsa.com which is a celebrity gossip and paparazzi website and it is slowly becoming one the most respected platforms on social media with huge following, called, NKONKONSA.
He established Nkonkonsa in 2015 and he is already making waves and winning several awards. He was adjudged Best Showbiz Blogger/Online Writer of the Year Award (Ghana) at City People Entertainment Awards 2016, Nkonkonsa.com Instagram page has been adjudged the most followed blog on Instagram and his blog placed number 16 in the 2017 Top 50 Ghanaian Bloggers list; also won the Blogger of the year at the Ghana High School Legend Awards 2017 and also won Best Events Blogger of the year at the Ghana Events Awards 2018.
